Constituencies of Punggol

Pasir Ris-Punggol Group Representation Constituency (Traditional Chinese: 白沙—榜鵝集選區;Simplified Chinese: 白沙—榜鹅集选区) is a six-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in the north-eastern region of Singapore. The constituency consists of Pasir Ris, Punggol, a small part of Hougang and the eastern part of Sengkang. Formed during the 2001 general election as a five-member GRC, it has been held by the People’s Action Party. With the growth in population of Punggol New Town and Sengkang New Town, the GRC became the largest five-member GRC and exceeded the maximum number of voters for a five-member GRC. For the general election in 2006, Pasir Ris-Punggol became a six-member GRC.

Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC is led by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean who is also the Minister for Defence. In 2001, the GRC enjoyed a walkover. In the 2006 elections, its opponent is the Singapore Democratic Alliance.

For the 2011 general election, the incumbent People’s Action Party has announced that their team would be led by Teo Chee Hean, and include Senior Parliamentary Secretary Teo Ser Luck, Penny Low, Janil Puthucheary, Gan Thiam Poh and Zainal Sapari.

Punggol East Single Member

Constituency (Simplified Chinese: 榜鹅东单选区;Traditional Chinese: 榜鵝東單選區) is a Single Member Constituency located in the north-eastern area of Singapore. The ward covers the eastern area of Sengkang. This ward has been carved out during the 2011’s General Election and was formerly a ward from the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

On 12 December 2012, the former MP for Punggol East SMC, Michael Palmer resigned due to an extramarital affair.

On 26 January 2013, Lee Li Lian of the Workers’ Party elected as the MP for Punggol East SMC.

Sengkang West Single Member Constituency

(Simplified Chinese: 盛港西单选区) is a Single Member Constituency located in the western area of Singapore. The ward covers the western area of Sengkang. This ward has been carved out during the 2011 General Election and was formerly a ward from the Ang Mo Kio GRC. The current MP is Dr Lam Pin Min.
